You'll need

From home

  • Potatoes
  • a knife (adult)
  • paint
  • paper plates
  • butcher's paper or brown paper

To buy

  • Large roll of brown kraft paper
๐Ÿช„ Wizard's tip

Spread out an old sheet first. Then let them stamp the whole roll; the 'too much' is what makes it look homemade.

How to do it

  1. Halve a potato and pat the cut side dry.
  2. Press in a cookie cutter and trim around it (adult) to leave a raised shape.
  3. Dip in a thin layer of paint on a plate.
  4. Stamp across the paper in rows or patterns.
  5. Dry flat, then wrap the presents.

Younger kids: Adults carve; kids choose the colours and stamp.

Older kids: Design a repeating pattern and carve their own stamps with a blunt knife or a cookie-cutter guide.

โš  Safety Adults do the knife work.
