You'll need

From home

  • Cornflour
  • water
  • a big tray or bowl
  • food colouring (optional)
๐Ÿช„ Wizard's tip

Let it dry before you clean up: dry oobleck turns back to powder and brushes away.

How to do it

  1. Pour about 2 cups of cornflour into a tray.
  2. Slowly add about 1 cup of water, stirring with hands.
  3. Aim for runny when you tilt it but firm when you tap it.
  4. Squeeze, punch, drip and play.

Younger kids: Add food colouring and small toys to hide and find.

Older kids: Test it: punch, roll a ball, let it drip, and explain why it acts like a solid and a liquid.

โš  Safety Not for eating. Don't pour it down the sink; it can block drains. Put it in the bin.
