๐Ÿช„ Wizard's tip

Make a small sign or clue card for the first door. Kids love seeing other families find the trail, and it turns a craft into a community adventure.

How to do it

  1. Glue paddle-pop sticks side by side and add two across the back to hold them together.
  2. Shape an arched top or add a little roof.
  3. Decorate with a bead door knob, a tiny window, paint and natural bits.
  4. Let the glue set overnight.
  5. Place the doors at the base of trees, walls or garden beds along a short trail.
  6. Write clues or draw a map so others can find them all.

Younger kids: An adult does the hot glue; little ones choose the colours and stick on decorations with PVA or glue dots.

Older kids: They design a themed set of doors, write rhyming clues or a map, and run the trail as a treasure hunt for friends.

โš  Safety Use a low-temperature glue gun and keep it adult-run for under-8s. In public spaces, lean doors in place rather than nailing or screwing them to trees, keep them off paths, and collect them afterwards. Check with your council before leaving anything in a park long-term.
